About This Firearm
Approximate Retail Value: $849
The Mossberg 590A1 is a heavy-duty 12-gauge pump-action shotgun designed as the military-spec version of the Mossberg 590. It is known for its durability, reliability, and rugged construction.
Key Features
Pump-action operation
Heavy-walled barrel for increased strength and resistance to damage
Metal trigger guard and metal safety button (upgrades over standard 590 models)
Ambidextrous tang safety located on top of the receiver
Dual extractors and twin action bars for reliable cycling
Typical configurations include 18.5-inch or 20-inch barrels with capacities ranging from 6+1 to 8+1 rounds of 12-gauge ammunition.
What Makes It Different?
The 590A1 was developed to meet U.S. military requirements and is often cited as the only pump-action shotgun to pass the military’s MIL-SPEC endurance and environmental testing standards. Its heavier barrel and metal components make it more durable than the standard 590, though also heavier.
